How To Live In A Noisy Neighborhood?

Sometimes the most perfect plot of land for your ideal dream home is next to a railway line or within the vicinity of a primary school or a fraternity house. Or sometimes you buy the most perfect home in a quiet neighborhood and your neighbor’s sons grows up to form a rock band in his garage. In that form of situation, there is nothing much else to do than to soundproof your home, threaten your neighbor or to leave the neighborhood for good. However, in the practical context, these are not ideal solutions and benefits of double glazing need to be followed. Here are a few solutions which might help you prevent yourself from going permanently deaf after a time or go insane from lack of sleep.

Getting adjust of the time frame when the street is most active

Before you move in to the place, if it is in the vicinity of a busy neighborhood make sure to visit the place during the course of the day. Sometimes you may notice times when the traffic dies down or that the most noise is only during a few peak hours of the day. If the noise prevails through the day, you might have to opt for sound proof windows

Or the alternate option of a few cheap double glazed windows which will not be as effective but will definitely help keep the bulk of the noise out.

Getting a fan to help you sleep

The soft whir of the fan or a similar machine which gives a constant murmur to concentrate on rather than the fluctuating sounds of the street outside helps the sleeping process much more as you are much harder to distract. Once you get used to the constant murmur, the noises of the outside will not be a problem. Ear plugs or the use of sound proof earphones will also help when trying to get some work done if the back ground noise is unbearable.

The Shrubs

If the above options such as installing multi-paned glass, heavy drapes and earphones fail you, try planting a few trees which help dampen the sounds outside while helping you gain some privacy from those on the street. Hiring a specialist maybe ideal in this accord in finding out the right form of tree to use but generally most bushy trees help block out sound from the other side. This will definitely not be able to block the noise out completely, but if you are not one to listen to loud music outdoors or use headphones throughout the day, this is an ideal solution to dampen the noise.
